The audax story

We began our journey as Standard Chartered nexus (“SC nexus”), a Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) solution enabling the embedding of Standard Chartered’s financial products via partner ecosystems to reach unbanked segments of customers. Through SC nexus, Standard Chartered Bank became the first global bank to provide BaaS in Asia, with successful partnerships including Bukalapak, an Indonesian all-commerce platform.

Recognising the rising demand for a seamless digital banking experience, we understood the imperative for incumbent banks to diversify their technology strategy. This strategy is essential to rapidly bring new products and services to market while managing the constraints of legacy infrastructure.

Leveraging our technology capabilities and our team’s in-depth knowledge of navigating the complexities of delivering tailored solutions for financial institutions, we evolved into audax. Our spin-off into audax empowers us to enable more clients to scale and modernise with our modularised capabilities.

The leaders of audax

Kelvin Tan

Chief Executive Officer

Kelvin leads the build of the platform with a vision to connect multiple ecosystems, starting from financial services. He has held a number of roles in Standard Chartered, ranging from Transaction Banking to Retail Products and Payments to Strategic Programmes.

Sachin Sharma

Chief Product & Commercial Officer

Sachin leads product development and commercial partnerships for audax. He is a product and business development leader with a passion for driving sustainable and profitable growth by giving consumers an unparalleled banking experience.

Mathias Faure

Chief Technology Officer

Mathias leads the technology function overseeing architecture, developer experience, infrastructure and cybersecurity. He has over 20 years of experience in technology in financial services, most notably focusing on digitalisation and transformation.

Karthik Sethuraman

Chief Delivery and Risk Officer

Karthik leads functions encompassing the overall platform delivery, risk, governance and customer success. Karthik is a business leader with over 30 years of international experience in FinTech, Digital Banking, Retail, Private & Wealth Management.

Fernn Lim

Chief Operating Officer

Fernn deputises the CEO’s strategic & operational requirements and heads Marketing, Human Resources and Operations. She sits on Standard Chartered’s Diversity and Inclusion council and helps to drive gender and equality mandate across the bank.

Smriti Gupta

Chief Financial Officer

Smriti leads the Finance function for audax. She has held multiple C-suite roles at early-stage companies, heading finance, fundraising, business planning and growth.
